With incredible designs from natural wood grains to stone impressions laminate is not only attractive, but also more dent and stain-resistant than solid or engineered hardwood flooring, making it the perfect choice for active households with young children or pets.

What is Laminate Flooring?

Laminate flooring is a laminate surface that has been adhered or "laminated" to a dense wood core center and a synthetic backing material, created when four layers (a bottom layer, HDF core, decorative layer and tread layer) are synthesized into one extremely dense surface. Most laminates are designed to snap together without glue or nails, and are designed to "float," meaning they are not attached to the subfloor.

When installing laminate on concrete, planks can be protected from moisture by applying a vapor barrier, a sheet of 6-mil poly plastic under the underlay. Also the simplified interlocking clicking system enables most do-it-yourselfers to install an entire floor in a single afternoon. Most Laminates come in Planks 4" to 8" wide and approximately 4' feet long. Due to the nature of the planks, manufacturers have focused the styling of the product to reflect the shape of the plank and therefore have concentrated on duplicating wood looks in various species of wood. The result is a very attractive, durable, stable, and easy to install floor.
